What makes the high quality tabular alumina?
High quality tabular alumina make higher quality reliable refractory products such as fire bricks, sliding gate plate,linings,etc. It has to be low porosity, low water absorption and high density.
In the manufacturing of tabular alumina, there are several key procedures to make the tabular alumina quality stable.
- Raw material: high purity alumina powder with high Al2O3 and low Na2O is necessary.
- The fineness of alumina powder for green ball: We mill the 60# alumina powder to 380# to make the green ball compacted and get high density. In the meantime, it contribute to strength of green ball and avoid ball breakage.
- Avoid any addtives in the process of sintering. For example, adding TiO2 will decrease the sintering temperature and increase density. However, it will cause higher porosity and uneven crystal structure.
- Continous sintering process. Over sintering or unsufficient sintering are both harmful to get low porosity and water absorption. It takes 22 hours to sinter the green ball. That process is criticial to get high quality WTA fraction. As a result, there is no crack,Delamination,spalling.
- Barmac milling process. That method can get grains without angles.
