Aviation Standard AMS 2431/6C Shot Peening Glass Beads
Aviation shot peening glass beads are a material used for surface treatment of metal parts in the aviation industry. They are spherical particles made from broken glass sand such as broken glass and flat glass, which are melted and processed at high temperatures. Glass pellets rely on power such as compressed air or mechanical centrifugal force to spray and cover the surface of the workpiece at high speed. The impact force of the pellets forms residual compressive stress on the surface of the part, effectively suppressing the initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks, thereby improving the fatigue strength and corrosion resistance of the part. Shot peening glass beads (glass shot) have strict particle size distribution and roundness standards, and the shot blasting effect is uniform.
Characteristics of Aviation Standard AMS 2431/6C Shot Peening Glass Beads:
1. The chemical composition is high-quality sodium calcium glass microsphere, with a silicon dioxide content of min 67%.
2. The arsenic content of glass shot blasting shall not exceed 75ppm, and the lead content shall not exceed 100ppm.
3. More than 90% of the glass pellets have a hardness between 500-550HV or 515-575HK. 48~52HRC can also be used as a reference.
4. The true density should not be less than 2.3g/cm.
5. Magnetic particles should not exceed 0.1% of the original sample weight.
6. Glass shot peening with a projected area covered by inclusions (including bubbles) exceeding 20% should not exceed 10%.
7. Coating: No silane or any other coating material.
